I've been photographing families at Family House for over a year now, and I can't really put into words how it feels to be apart of such an amazing nonprofit. Both the staff and the families that stay there are so wonderful. I feel so thrilled to be able to give them photos that are outside of a hospital and where everyone is excited to be outside running around, laughing and smiling.
If you've been following me for a while, Ava will look familiar from a post I wrote about her last year, which you can find here. The best part about being around Family House regularly is that I get to see the kids I photograph in and out of Family House so often that they remember me, give me hugs and ask who else I get to photograph that day. It feels really special to have such a great relationship with these kids. Everytime I see Ava, she's always running around with friends, laughing and having such a great time.
I was so excited to get an email from Erica, Ava's mom, asking if I would be up for celebrating Ava's fourth birthday. I jumped at the opportunity to be apart of this sweet girl's birthday. Take a look at all the fun we had!
