IN MEMORIAM OF NICOLAS ROBLES

I met Nicolas through Family House, and he was one of the first kids I photographed. He was the sweetest boy who knew exactly how to pose like he had been modeling for GQ for years. His sister, Paloma, reached out to me to have photos done of her and her brother. I thought that was the sweetest thing, especially because I don't know the last time my own brother and I took a picture together. There's something really special about watching a brother and sister act so loving towards each other. It's at that time that you know they would be friends regardless, not just because they are related.

When I'm at Family House photographing families, the sessions last about 20-30 minutes because it can be a pretty draining experience for the kiddos and I don't like to push them too far. Nicolas was such a kind person, and I am so honored to have known him even if it was only for a short time. I can't imagine how his family is doing now, but I am so happy to have photographed Nicolas so that his family has some portraits of him to smile back on. This is exactly why I do what I do, but it doesn't make it any easier when I get this type of news. Hug your little ones extra tight tonight.
