I loved spending time with this adorable family of five! Mazy is the newest addition to the family, and she is so loved by her big brother and sister. She is such a happy and calm little girl. One of my favorite parts of an in home session is to get everyone all cozied up on the bed. It makes for the perfect amount of cuddles where each kiddo feels like they're getting attention, which can be hard when there's a sweet new babe in the mix.
Although this wasn't a newborn session because Mazy was a few months old at the time, this was still her first photo session. If it hasn't been clear enough, I'm a family photographer. This year I decided to dive into birthday parties as well, while still working with nonprofits. However, I'm not a newborn photographer. I don't like the overly posed and photoshopped newborn pictures. It's just not my style so I normally stay away from newborn sessions.
I do enjoy newborn sessions that are like family sessions. There is a relaxed vibe, and the family wants me there to capture how everyone is with the new baby. Sometimes that means the older siblings aren't totally in love with their little baby brother or sister yet, and that's ok! Try not to stress out if your kiddo isn't giving the new babe a ton of kisses and really is only asking when they're leaving. It takes some time to get in a groove. If you're looking for a 4 hour newborn session with props and lights and the whole nine yards, that's great but if you're looking for some relaxed portraits with your newest bundle of joy and the rest of the family, let's chat!
